i am in the process of reconditioning a 1970 fender twin. i am wondering the benefits of different transformer and cap applications. there’s alot to choose from and not sure what is what. any suggestions? i’m looking for a rich, thick, sweet sound. but then again isn’t everbody?

    • Hi Andy. For transformers it’s hard to find better than Mercury Magnetics. In cae you’re buying output trafos, go for the multi tap variants that allows for several impedances. Very useful. For caps check Torres Engineering, Hoffman amps or Mojo Tone.

Hi I live in Australia and have purchased a second hand Fender Acoustasonic SFX II Guitar Amp (Part number 2213100010 (120V, 60Hz) USA). I purchased the amp from America so the amp is to USA spec’s with a 110v transformer. The Australian version of this amp has the part number 2213103010 (240V, 50Hz) Aust. I need to convert the transformer in this amp to Australian spec’s (240 volts). Do you guys have this part? What is the cost and shipping cost to Australia.

    Cheers
    Mark

    hi mark!

chances are that you can get a proper replacement transformer through your local fender-dealer.

another option is to use some kind of “step-down” transformer.
they´re reasonably cheap. the only downside is that you have one more piece of equipment to move around – but you can also have this step-down trannie mounted inside the cabinet.
here in europe it´s quite common to these on fender-amps from the states.

    best
